Formula: placement points = occupied cells. Clear bonus = 10 × [lines × previous combo + lines × (lines + 1) ÷ 2]. A clear advances the combo once per line.

The score has two parts

Every move can add placement points, and a move that completes one or more lines also receives a clear bonus. Placement points are simple: a piece containing four occupied cells adds four points as soon as it is placed. The clear bonus is calculated separately after the completed rows and columns are detected.

Fresh-streak line clear bonuses

When no combo is already active, clearing several lines at once produces the following clear bonuses. The points for the cells in the placed piece are added on top of these values.

1+10×1
2+30×2
3+60×3
4+100×4
5+150×5

How an existing combo changes the next clear

Each line cleared advances the combo by one level. The clear bonus therefore grows with the combo that existed before the move. In this browser game the clear-bonus formula is 10 × (lines × previous combo + triangular value of the lines cleared). You do not need the formula while playing, but it explains why preserving a long streak becomes valuable.

×02+30×2
×31+40×4
×32+90×5
×73+270×10

Worked scoring example

Suppose your current combo is ×3 and you place a five-cell piece that completes two lines. The placement itself adds 5 points. The two-line clear adds 90 more points, and the combo advances from ×3 to ×5. That move therefore adds 95 points in total.

Why multi-line clears are valuable

A multi-line clear does three useful things at once: it opens more board space, earns a larger immediate bonus and advances the combo by several levels. The trade-off is that forcing a multi-line setup can damage the board if it creates narrow pockets. A safe single-line clear is often better than a risky double-line attempt that leaves no room for the rest of the tray.

Does the official app use exactly this formula?

Do not assume so. The official mobile game can change scoring, experiments and combo behavior between versions or platforms. The numbers on this page document the rules implemented by this website so players can understand the browser game accurately.

What matters more than the formula?

For long runs, survival still matters more than squeezing points from one move. Plan all three pieces, protect large connected empty areas and treat the combo as a reward for strong board management rather than a reason to make a dangerous placement.
